The Alexis Library is hosting Santa on December 1st during the Alexis Christmas Walk. He will be reading to the kids from 10 to 10:30am. Following Santa the library has a craft fair until 2pm. This includes crafts, bake goods and other items people have donated. All proceeds go toward supplies and prizes for the kids summer reading program.

Pick up a winter reading packet starting Saturday, December 15th, or register online. Each time you read a book, check it off your bingo sheet. Once you earn a bingo, bring it to the library for a prize! Sheets must be submitted by Friday, March 1st. 

The Warren County Public Library is seeking an innovative, creative Adult Services Librarian to be part of our team. The Adult Services Library Assistant/Librarian is responsible for:

• Planning, designing, and coordinating a variety of Adult Programming for our public.
• Developing, leading and assisting technology classes.
• Marketing programs and the library.
• Selecting of Adult materials. Oversees the ordering of books for the library, evaluates book donations for acquisition, and maintains adult material collections including deselection.
• Provides technology oversight, working with an outsourced technology company to ensure that technology is up-to-date and in good repair.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills for our diverse community.
• General circulation duties.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree, required. An MLS from an ALA-Accredited University, preferred
• Knowledge of current trends in libraries and technology.
• Demonstrated computer skills. Strong knowledge of computers, creative technology and software, Microsoft Office, and the Internet.
• Experience providing group or one-on-one technology instruction, preferred

Normal office skills such as the ability to work with Microsoft Office products, phone skills, reliable transportation to work, and the ability to lift 25 pounds are also required.
Full time, requires some evenings and Saturdays. 
Benefits include vacation and sick time, and IMRF retirement plan. We offer coverage for medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. Salary: $12 per hour

The Warren County Public Library have 2 passes available to be checked out on a first-come, first-served basis to patrons with a valid, and in good standing, WCPL library card. The pass can be checked out for one week, no renewals.  Holds can be placed only in person or by calling (309) 734-3166. The pass includes general admission for the individual or the household.

Please note that passes are non-transferable. Borrowing patrons may be asked for photo identification or their library card, in addition to the pass, to gain admission to the museum.

Saturday, September 8th-Thursday, November 15th

Children birth-12th grade can participate in this reading program. Reading logs will be available at the Monmouth Branch front desk, Teen Lounge and Children's Room, starting Saturday, September 8th.

Participants must register using the Registration Form (or at the front desk). Each participant is given a reading log and must read all 6 books in their category to earn a prize. Reading logs must be turned in by Thursday, November 15th by 8pm in order to earn a prize.

Things are looking bright in the library due to an Ameren grant, which allowed us to change out our florescent bulbs with energy efficient, LED light bulbs. The new lights are brighter and use half the watts—a great savings for the library! Thank you Ameren for contributing $2,790 towards our project.

Fall hours have begun at the Monmouth branch. The library is open Monday through Thursday 8am-8pm, and Friday and Saturday 8am-5pm. Closed on Sundays.

The Warren County Public Library would like to recognize the following individual for her many years of service on our Board: Nancy Gossett -- 26 1/2 years.

Mrs. Gossett has been the Secretary since her first meeting on May 13, 1991. We will miss her as a Trustee. Thank you Nancy!
